Creative Writing Group at Carnon Downs Village Hall
The Creative Writing Group runs on Thursday evenings from 6.45 to 8.45pm. The dates for this term are Thursday 8 September until Thursday 15 December (no meeting on 27 October). £5 per session. This small, friendly and informal group explores creative writing techniques; the sessions are suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. Please contact me for more information.
Sunday 13 November, Looe Literary Festival 2016
On Sunday 13 November I am running a workshop on character from 10.30 to 12.30pm, at Truly Scrumptious. From 4 to 5pm, upstairs at the Black Swan, I’ll be giving a talk about the relationship between Katherine Mansfield and Anne Estelle Rice which led to Anne painting Katherine’s portrait in Looe in 1918.

New Creative Writing Group
This friendly and informal group looks at creative writing techniques. We use simple and enjoyable exercises to help you to begin to write your own stories, poetry and memoirs. The sessions are suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience.
Dates: 10 am to 12pm, Friday 22 and 29 April, 13, 20 and 27 May, 10, 17 and 24 June, 1, 8 and 15 July.
From September onwards, the group will meet on Thursday evenings. Details to follow.

Reading in Falmouth
I’ll be reading my story, Painting Katherine, at Telltales on Tuesday 26th January 2016. The venue is Dolly’s Wine Bar and Tearooms, Church Street, Falmouth. Doors open at 7 for a 7.30 start.
Painting Katherine was inspired by the history surrounding Anne Estelle Rice’s ‘Portrait of Katherine Mansfield’, which was painted in Looe in May 1918. You can view an image of the portrait here

Book Launch: The Lost of Syros and Over The Dam

On Tuesday 4 August, I’ll be launching my short story collection, The Lost of Syros, and my short story pamphlet, Over the Dam, in the fabulous surroundings of A Curious Hall, Webber St, Falmouth between 6 to 8pm. It’s a joint event with my friend, writer and journalist Sue Kittow, who is launching her second walks book, Walks in the Footsteps of Cornish Writers.
Telltales in July
During July, I’ve been busy organising four events for Telltales; I’ll be reading an excerpt from my story, The Rememberer, during the Telltales set at Port Eliot Literary Festival on Friday 31 July, 10am in The Round Room.
On Wednesday 27 May, I’ll be at The Writers’ Café talking about Telltales, Over the Dam and 1nspire workshops. The venue is The Queen’s Hotel, The Promenade, Penzance from 2.30 to 4.15pm. Find out more about The Writers Café here.
Celebration of the Tom-Gallon Trust Award
A celebration of The Society of Authors’ Tom-Gallon Award will be held on Saturday 16 May at the Darlington Arts Festival. My story, The Pledge, will be read by a Liars’ League actor alongside stories by other recent winners Carys Davies, Benjamin Myers and Samuel Wright.
