Blog – February News

The first months of 2024 are flying by and there is much exciting news to share. The advance reader copies of Botanical Short Stories have arrived, and I’m thrilled that the book is being published by T J Books in Cornwall where our botanical illustrator Sarah Jane Humphrey and I live. Pre-orders are available from many book retailers including Bookshop and Hive who support independent bookshops.

I’m currently busy planning events including the Penzance Litfest and sharing details with outlets with help from the brilliant team at The History Press Local – more news to follow!

Wild Cornwall

I’m delighted to say that 12 Stories for 12 Sections will be published on 23 March 2024 by Hermitage Press. This anthology celebrates the uniquely wild, varied, and beautiful landscape of Cornwall in 12 new and surprising stories from some of Cornwall’s finest writers.

For the Love of Books

As many of you will know, books are often many years in the making with publication as the end of a long journey. I’m pleased and excited for those who have been published recently or whose books will be ‘out in the wild’ soon.

A Short History of Flowers (7 March 2024), written by the wonderful Gardener’s World presenter, garden historian and writer Advolly Richards, features around 100 illustrations by botanical artist Sarah Jane Humphrey while Clare Reddaway’s novella Dancing in the Shallows is due from Fairlight Books on 14 March.

Diana Powell’s Sisters of Cynvael is published by Cinnamon Press on 2 May and Adrian Markle’s debut novel Bruise available from Touchwood Editions on 14 May. November 2023 saw Rob Magnusson Smith’s unique and unforgettable novel Seaweed Rising. Many congratulations to them all.
